about
OWNER/OPERATOR

After some years away from the business, the Durst family took over the kennel once again in 2013, making major renovations and renaming it the Hereford Bed & Biscuit. Founders, Barb and Glenn's grandson, Tommy now runs the kennel. Tommy loves all animals and began learning the industry working alongside his grandmother when he was 13 years old. After high school, he explored the world of dog shows, working, learning, and traveling the country with several professional handlers. Today, Tommy spends his days at the kennel, with his awesome team,  as a hands-on owner.

FOUNDERS

Barbara & Glenn Durst founded the kennel in 1972 and named it the Hereford Country Club for Pets. Barbara raised Chow Chows, and over her lifetime, had 56 homebred champions. Many Baltimore sports legends were clients, including Hall of Famer, Jim Palmer and Johnny Unitas, who would stop by just to see Barb's puppies! She retired in 1995, and the business was leased outside of the family for the next 18 years.
